Environmental Services
AJT & Associates, Inc. provides a full range of environmental services to government and industry that include investigations to establish existing contamination and plans and specifications for the abatement of the contaminant to various tasks such as sampling and analyses, regulations interpretations and O&M procedure development. Several other environmental services that AJT provides include contamination assessment and remediation, groundwater and soil sampling, laboratory analysis, Phase I and II audits, management of aboveground and underground storage tanks, and asbestos abatement.
In addition to these functions, AJT has been providing hazardous waste treatment and remediation design services for several years. We provide complete turn-key services that include the development of solutions based upon lab research and bench testing to verify treatment system designs. The final treatment systems are then designed and fabricated within our own shops. This method allows us to design, verify and review a waste treatment system design before it is actually implemented. Our team of chemists and biologists review and update the design to find the most efficient treatment methods prior to implementation. The following are representative of the services we provide:
Heavy Metal Contamination
- RCRA and EPA priority pollutant sampling, analysis and assessment
- Field sample collection of heavy metal contaminated samples
- Laboratory analysis of water, soil, plant, sludge and paint samples using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
- Removal of heavy metals from wastewater using AJTSM designed mechanical treatment systems
- Removal of heavy metals from wastewater using aquatic plants in a wetland
- Consulting support services for EPA compliance levels
Hazardous Waste Treatment Design and Management
- Phase I and II site assessments
- REPA, CEA, REM and PE licensing
- CERCLIS, SARA, UST, FINDS, ERNS, landfill and superfund regulatory experience
- Soils and groundwater testing and contamination assessments
- Remediation of contaminated sites design and implementation
- Registered and certified personnel to provide support and recommendations for hazardous waste emergency response, hazard assessment and cleanup
- Recommendation and support services for handling, transporting and storage of hazardous waste materials

Pollution Control
- Wastewater reuse study, systems design and alternative disposal options for the Kennedy Space Center for their center-wide industrial/domestic wastewater systems
- Design and construction of retention ponds and wetlands to handle stormwater runoff
- Bioremediation of pollutants in wastewater streams using constructed wetlands
- Design and build wastewater, potable and process water treatment and filtration systems
- Design and implementation of streambank erosion elimination system
Asbestos and Lead Design and Management
- Asbestos and lead facility surveys and hazard assessments
- Inspection, bulk sample collection, analysis and subsequent design to include specifications and drawings which detail abatement procedures
